Jericho: Season 2 DVD

Jericho Season 2 DVD Release:

On June 10th

Interview with Lennie James.

More here.

"In the next couple of days, BlogCatalog is launching Social Dashboard beta, a new feature that displays your latest activities across many social networks — Digg, Flickr, Last.fm, Twitter, YouTube, and many others. That means automatic cross-networking and promotion right from your personal profile page. It also means that the your post updates, Twitter comments, Digg submissions, and other activities will appear on the Social Dashboard of all your BlogCatalog friends, and maybe their friends too. This is the kind of networking that can make posts go viral. And that's just for starters."

The Hawkins Of Communication

"If any year will ever stand out as the most dramatic change of direction for network television, it will likely be 2007. And if there is any credit is to be given, it doesn’t belong to a single network or broadcast executive, but rather the collective efforts of fans from several television shows, with Jericho Rangers leading the charge in the form of 20 tons of nuts and constant coverage from personal blogs to The Wall Street Journal.

It’s not so much that old media is dead as much as it is that old media has been challenged to become indistinguishable and better than new media. It’s the kind of challenge that will lead to bright possibilities in journalism and broadcast. The new year will be the year to decide. Will a company adapt or die?

Reality programming is not the answer. With rare exceptions like Survivor and American Idol, the net has taken over the reality programming niche. Not only can we watch real-life realty clips on YouTube, but also entire lives put up for consumption with live streaming. The networks need better niche programs."

Acts Of Kindness: My Favorites

Some of my favorites from BlogCatalog's Acts of Kindness posts of
yesterday:

"We purchased five books yesterday. And randomly selected five different cities. Within those cities, we chose five random addresses. And today, all five books will be packaged and placed in the mail. Five random acts of kindness."

"As my act of kindness, from this point on, I would like to use my blog as a tribute to all rescued cats and dogs and the people who gave them a new life. These animals have experienced being lost, mistreated, abandoned, usually spent time at local shelters and/or rescue groups, and then adjusted to their new permanent home. They've been through so much in their short lives, and I admire their adaptability."

"Early in the Fall, a skinny, scrawny, white cat showed up in our yard. She was just about the most pitiful looking cat my husband and I have ever seen. She was obviously starving and our hearts went out to her.........."

"Whether they be random or planned, acts of kindness happen rarely. However, when they're thrown out there, they really make a difference in people's lives, no matter how little or monumental these selfless acts are."

"I have over the past week I decided to focus on acts of kindness for the earth. I thought the earth could do with some acts of kindness, so the beauty I enjoy is here for generations to come.

My concentration has been on collecting any litter that is left lying around the beach where I walk and swim each day."

How Did The Nuts Campaign Change You?

A while back I asked this question on the CBS message board:

We all helped save Jericho by changing CBS' mind and we got Jericho back.

How did the Nuts campaign change you?

Better or worse?

More tomorrow.

Kricka:

This campaign gave me faith that the little people can make a ruckus big enough to at least bend the behemoth that tends to make decisions for us. And while there was ample evidence of this through history, I don't think I had experienced it personally. While, as some say, it's just a TV show, and not finding the key to world peace, it gave me the faith in people I think I desperately needed. It has given me the resolve to keep on keeping on with the other projects in my life that I hold dear. I never thought in my wildest dreams that a television show would ever do that for me.

Openminded1:

One big way the nuts campaign was a change for me is that it was based online. I had never been involved in anything so multi-faceted that was done primarily via the internet. It was amazing to watch and even more amazing to be a part of. People starting finding niches at an unbelievable rate of speed and filling them. It was all so vastly different from anything I have ever seen. This campaign has the potential to inspire many positive changes in society, and is something I am glad my young daughter got to see firsthand. I think this gave me a new perspective on the things that will be possible in the not so distant future.

I thought I was fairly good at thinking outside the box before all this. I have realized that when it comes to undertaking any sort of initiative on the internet, one has to learn to think not only outside the box, but be able to take a 2D box and make it a 3D box.

azlady4:

It made me more aggressive and less passive. I learned that if you feel something is not right then speak up and do something about it. I believe in Jericho. I feel it is more than a TV show, it is a lession in humanity among other things and I felt it was worth fighting for. Before this, I never would have got involved in something like this, but I am glad I did because it got results.

mpbnice:

I learned that sometimes if enough little guys band together they CAN win, even against a huge entity like CBS. I heard over and over that we wouldn't, couldn't get our show back - it was gone, get over it. Guess what, everybody who said that was wrong! Next time something like that happens I won't be so quick to just accept it. I found out that I can call and email total strangers if I have to.

gl9east:

i learned to never give up. and also that nothing is impossible. i learned that i am not the only one who is so passionate about this show.

swenciler:

This campaign has made me very much more internet savvy.

now express my thoughts quicker and when people ask me about my bumper sticker NUTS4JERICHO- I am not afraid to tell them the whole and complete story of the show and the nuts campaign. I just wish I could go to the convention and meet some of the Rangers in person!!

I now believe you can really change anything if you try hard enough!!

bbsitr:

I learned that I am not alone in regards to my feelings about JERICHO. I have grown and have been more willing to fight for what I love. I have learned to actively participate in a campaign to get something done. I believe that I can take on anything I feel is important to me (or to my country). Thank you JERICHO!

Savannahgirl:

It helped me learn to speak my mind a bit more. I'm the kind of person that liked to blend in and not be noticed. I didn't like to "rock the boat" so to speak. This campaign taught me if I want something, I can't be afraid of sticking out or looking NUTS by everyone else. You never get what you want in this life by sitting back and waiting for it to come to you. You have to fight for it!

foxgray1:

I am usually a very timid person who would never try to change anything. However, back in May, when CBS first cancelled Jericho, I actually got sick to my stomach. I believe Jericho is the best show that I have ever seen, and I am a senior citizen, so that is saying something. Over the past 4 months, I have called CBS, emailed them, voted, read and posted on these boards, and I help track the sponsors. It is almost like my love for Jericho has actually changed my personality for the better, and made me more outgoing.

Ask Margie and Edna

Dear Margie and Edna:

I hear Katie is almost out the door at CBS. I hear they are going to offer you two her position as anchor ladies. Hope you accept. You do so well in reporting the news. The ratings would soar.

Margie: Well, aren't you the sweetest thing? I believe they only need one anchor lady and I am far more qualified than poor Edna. She has that speech impediment you know. It's called forked tongue. I will let you know when CBS calls me.

Edna: Margie, I swear, you are such an ingrate. The moment even the hint of fame comes calling, you throw your beloved sister out the window. Fine, well you just try and tackle that big job all by yourself--poor Katie couldn't do it on her own, what makes you think you can? Go ahead and take the job, CBS will see that they got the less photogenic sister as soon as they take one look at you.

++++++++++++++++

Dear Margie and Edna,

I never thought it could happen to me...I'm a student at a small midwestern college....oh wait...sorry, that's my letter to the "Penthouse Forum"

What I wanted to ask you ladies is this...seeing as how the former Mayor Green has become a casualty in our war with New Bern...do you think it would be tacky if I asked Gail if I could have his hat?

Sincerely, Bare-headed in Jericho

Margie: Penthouse? That's Edna's favorite. Oh, my stars, I got distracted. Poor Mayor Green was a good man. I don't think it would be tacky to ask her but are you sure you want it? I mean he did sweat a lot and the hat may not smell too good. I suggest you tell her you have a special cleaning solution for the hat. Take it with you and try to avoid seeing her after that.

Edna: Margie, that shows how much you know about things: Penthouse is one of those smutty men’s magazines, and is certainly nothing any respectable lady would have anything to do with. I do, however, have fond memories of the penthouse at the top of the Jericho Hotel, before it burned down back in ’47. My, the stories that room could tell…but I digress.

Young man, you absolutely should not ask for poor Johnston’s hat, that would be the ultimate in tacky, not to mention just plain rude! If anyone should have that hat, it’s Eric or Jake. You just ignore my sister’s bad advice, and listen to me; you’ll be glad you did. Besides, if you really want a new hat, you should go see what that Dale has to offer at his trading post. I’m sure he’d be willing to set you up with a real nice hat, as long as you have something valuable to trade. Like a kidney. Or your farm.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Dear Margie and Edna,

My husband is jealous that I have been looking at pictures of guys in towels. Please help.

-Skeet Treat Addict-

Margie: Well honey, if the towels are a problem, find a picture of guys without them.

Edna: Dear, I don’t know who this “Skeet” is, but if your husband is jealous, maybe you should suggest that he start wearing more towels around the house. You can always just imagine that he’s this Skeet person. And if that doesn’t work, maybe you just shouldn’t tell your husband about your little addiction. I always found that my marriages worked better with a little mystery, if you know what I mean.

Ask Margie and Edna

Dear Margie and Edna:

I have been in a relationship with a married man. He recently left his wife to be with me. His family of course is not taking our relationship very well at all. I know that it will take time, but they recently invited my boyfriend’s pregnant wife over for Thanksgiving dinner and made it clear that I am not welcome. When should I be able to expect to be included in family functions and take my rightful place by my man's side?

M. Bailey

Edna: Well, I never! His wife is pregnant? What’s the matter with you? Have you no shame, you hussy? You don’t break up a family! Honestly, what has happened to common decency in this town?

Margie: M. Bailey, pay the fruitcake no mind. She knows exactly who has no shame & it's not you or me. Now, honey, this will take time. You have to be patient. However, if you're impatient, I suggest you talk to Mr. Hawkins about it. I hear he's real helpful.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Dear Margie and Edna:

I am writing you for a friend. He has a moral dilemma. You see, my friend is bald. He recently heard that someone here in town has a supply of "Hair Club for Men" at their house and have no obvious use for it. My friend asked for it, but the person in control of it refused to trade with him for it. My friend is kind of in a prominent position in Jericho and people look to him for guidance. However, he is desperate to get this. In this post nuclear bomb world where it is every man for himself, would it still be considered unethical for him to force this young lady to hand over the "Hair Club for Men" supply? Or would it be better if he just declared it as some kind of contraband and had the police raid her house for it?

Sincerely,
Secretary for Mayor Anderson

Edna: Well, Mr. I-won’t-give-my-name-but-we-ALL-know-who-you’re-talking-about: for your boss to simply commandeer what he wants is clearly a blatant abuse of power. I don’t care how bald the man is, it’s simply bad manners to just take what you want without regards to other people. I sincerely hope you don’t advise him regarding serious matters, dear.

Margie: Honey, you tell him to raid that house. It's a matter of town security. Speaking of bad manners, is that what it was, Edna, when you commandeered my Charlie??? Answer me you shrew.

Edna: Town security, my foot. More like a matter of town insecurity. And your Charlie was not "commandeered," you crackpot. He volunteered. There is a difference, but then you never were very smart.

+++++++++++++++++++

Dear Margie and Edna:
Did you know that Hawkins has something secret in his basement that he doesn't want anyone to know about? Why don't you go over there and take a look, and report back to the unsuspecting citizens of Jericho just what it is? It is guaranteed to be the most explosive bit of gossip in the history of Jericho.

Nosy Nellie, Jericho, KS

Edna: Now, you know I love a good mystery, but that Mr. Hawkins looks like he might just bash you in the head with a shovel if you go poking around on his property. I’m an old lady, I don’t need that kind of aggravation. Maybe you should go over and look, and tell us about it if…er, I mean when you come back.

Margie: Edna, you are probably right about that shovel. Nosy Nellie, why don't we stroll over there together? From what I've heard around town, though, I think the only thing in the basement will be bouncing strippers.

Jericho Promotion Month

Jericho Promotion Month, September 2007
A Proclamation by Jericho Rally Point

It is DO OR DIE TIME for the promotion of Jericho..."It is vital that Jericho fans regain that motivation and passion that brought CBS to the decision to give fans seven more episodes. Fans need to recognize the historical achievements that they made four months ago and ensure that Jericho can count on them to do everything in their power to keep it alive."

NOW, THEREFORE, JERICHO RALLY POINT do hereby proclaim September 2007 as JERICHO PROMOTION MONTH. We call upon the people of the Jericho fandom to observe this month with the appropriate actions and activities comparable to those displayed from May 16- June 6, 2007. These activities include resuming the promotion of Jericho wherever you can, however you can. This is our last chance to show CBS that we are serious. We invite all the Jericho fans from all the boards, blogs and sites to join us to Promote Jericho (heavily) through the month of September 2007. Dust off some of the old ideas and share them with your fellow Rangers and lets make sure Jericho lives a long, long time.

Signed,

Ask Margie and Edna

Once again, Margie and Edna, Jericho's oldest advice columnists, give advice to the hapless and the clueless out there in the metro-Jericho area. They've put on their thinking caps, just to give you the very best that their sharp brains (and sharper tongues) have to offer.

Dear Margie and Edna,

My name is Skylar. My parents are dead and I'm all alone except for my boyfriend Dale. Since Dale runs Gracie's market he is becoming attractive to more and more women. I'm worried. I'm almost out of makeup, my nails are chipped, and I can't get to the beauty parlor. What can I do to keep Dale?

Skylar S., Jericho, KS

Margie: Honey, let me be frank. What's in that market that's worth fighting over Dale to get? I mean if he had some nice ribs or hens or steak I might mosey on down there and look him over but he doesn't. As far as nails, hair, and makeup I'll let you ask my sister, because she used all that fancy stuff and still couldn't hold on to a man.

Edna: I know it's tough losing your family, sweetie; the only family I have left is this shrew of a sister, and I just wish I could lose her somewhere. Now you're young, so I'm going to give you some words of wisdom here: do not let yourself be defined by a man, especially that Dale Turner. (He's got delusions of grandeur if ever I've seen them. I think you might just want to hitch your wagon to a different horse.) So what if other women are attracted to him? If he truly loves you, he won't look twice at those other little hussies. And if all that it takes to turn his head is a little face paint and nail polish, then he's not worth fighting for--you take it from me, dear.

+++++++++++++++++

Dear Margie and Edna,

I can't tell you my real name so just call me CLUEles. I want to know why people don't like me? Nobody in Jericho wants me here and they shun me when I walk down the street. Today was the worst. I went to the Mayor and offered my help in any area where I was needed. He looked at me with disdain, shook his head, and said, "What would you like to do? Tax collecting?" My feelings are hurt. How can I make them like me?

CLUEles, Jericho, KS (but recently of Los Angeles)

Edna: Well, maybe you need to take a closer look at your behavior. Have you done anything recently to alienate the good people of Jericho or their supporters? I bet that if you look really closely, you'll realize that people have a very good reason for disliking you. Has anyone brought up the subject of legumes to you, dear?

Margie: CLUEles, one problem may be that Italian silk suit you're wearing. Nobody in this town even has a suit any more. Edna is correct about looking closely at your behavior. Do you wash up regularly? Do you talk to people as if they're making peanuts? And, what's wrong with people collecting taxes? Why don't you go home and have a suppository then you'll feel better tomorrow?

+++++++++++++++++

Dear Margie and Edna,
I'm currently the henchman--er, assistant manager--to a high-ranking official here in New Bern. The perks of the job are good: protection, regular food and water, the chance to go on "goodwill" trips to nearby towns. However, my boss is so demanding, he dominates all of my personal time. He takes all of his anger out on me, and although he promised to let me relocate my family, he constantly goes back on his word. How do I let my boss know that I won't stand for his unreasonable demands any more?

Your friend, Russell of New Bern, KS

Margie: Russell, when did Edna become your boss? You need to get your friends together and go pay a "goodwill" visit on your boss. Ask Hawkins to let you use the tank. I believe that will solve your problem. If it doesn't, then send the tank and Hawkins's daughter with her pistol.

Edna: Margie, believe it or not, for once I am in full agreement with you. Russell, you cannot reason with a domineering boss--trust me, I've been dealing with bossy types all my life. In your situation, I would suggest a show of force like Margie describes. If your boss “fires” you, you can always come live here in Jericho with us—but only if you apologize for trying to invade the town. That really wasn’t nice, young man.

+++++++++++++++++

Okay folks, here’s your chance to get some advice from Jericho’s #1 gossip mavens. Do you have a question for Margie and Edna? Submit your questions, and Margie and Edna will tackle your toughest post-apocalyptic problems and concerns. You may submit a question either for an existing Jericho character, or for yourself. However, if you submit a question for yourself, it must be as if you are living in Jericho or New Bern—no real world problems allowed.

Send your questions to: sweat1951@rock.com, put “Ask Margie and Edna” in the subject line. We reserve the right to edit questions for length, spelling, etc. Please bear in mind, it’s possible that not all questions will be selected to be answered. Keep watching this space, maybe Margie and Edna will answer your question next!

Fan of the Week: Double Feature

It was too close on these two fans to select just one. I kept going back and forth then decided why not have both? This is not intended as a slight but as a compliment to these wonderful ladies who each are all about Teamwork.

Both these fans go far beyond what could be expected. They both realize the importance of spreading word of Jericho far and wide so they both Digg, comment on articles, and post on several message boards. Who knows where a new fan might land looking for guidance? While encouraging everyone to post at the CBS message board they both realize the message must span the Internet as well as including grass roots efforts.

Kystorms and Hawksdomain are civic-minded, involved fans. Please help them with all their efforts. Feel free to contact them for more information.

Interview With Blog Goddess

By popular request: Blog Goddess:

1. What is your real name?

Well, some call me Jane or Jericho Jane. Others call me JerichoSaved or sweat629 or sweat1951 or pamsabby and even Blog Goddess.

2. Why so many names?

I was on the CBS board as sweat1951 and got banned so I became sweat629. I joined RadioFreeJericho and used pamsabby for some reason. My real name is Jane but a friend calls me Jericho Jane. After I started blogging my friends at RFJ started calling me Blog Goddess because I blog for Jericho.

3. How many blogs do you have?

I have three. My main blog is JerichoMonster. There was so much information that I needed to post that I started Arabelle's Alley which is named for my puppy. Then came JerichoCentral because, again, there was too much information for just 2 blogs.

4. Why are you so Nuts about Jericho?

I loved the show as soon as it first aired. Smith and Daybreak had just been canceled and I was upset about them. When Jericho was canceled it was the last straw. I couldn't bear the thought of not finding out who Hawkins really is or what Jake has in his past. The main thing I loved from the start was the feeling that there were secrets to be revealed down the road.

5. Who is your favorite character and why?

I love all the people on Jericho even that Mayor. My favorite, though, has always been Darcy Hawkins/April Parker. I think she is much tougher than anyone knows. Robert thinks he knows her but I doubt that. I see much flowing beneath the surface in Darcy and, one day, it will bubble up and out. It actually started to in the finale.

6. What will happen next season?

I'm not sure but I think Jake and Emily will be married by Season 3. Eric will marry Mary Bailey but they'll be divorced by Season 4. In Season 10 I think Hawkin's children will be wanting to follow in their father's footsteps.

7. Who will be the Mayor after Gray gives it up?

Oh, that role will be played by Nina Tassler. See, by then, she's going to say, "If you can't beat Jericho, join it" so she'll be Mayor.

8. What about Stanley and Mimi? Will they get married?
Oh yes. By Season 5 they will get the farm up and running again because Stanley will decide to have a peanut farm which will do very well and Mimi will raise chickens. Did you know her Chicken and Dumplings will be the rage by Season 12? She'll be the one who ends up owing the IRS.

9. This is very interesting. Do you have a source for this information?

Source? You mean like at CBS or on the set?

10. Yes, that's it.

Yes, I have a source. He's rarely seen but he's always lurking. He hears the writers and producers talk about upcoming seasons. I suppose you want me to reveal my source but I will only reveal it in Season 15.

11. Any final comments?

Yes, I'd like to say that I heard a rumor about Leslie Moonves joining the cast soon. He's supposed to play the role of Mimi's boss at the IRS. He'll be coming to town to let Jericho's citizens know that disaster or not they still have to pay state and local taxes.

If You Were Nina Tassler: Part III

This is Part III of the question that was posed to Jericho fans on the CBS board.

"Pretend that you are Nina Tassler for a moment.
What would you be doing to promote Jericho?"

Tomorrow: What does this all mean and what happens next?

1. "If I were Nina Tassler I would embark on a visionary mission.
I would hire very smart people to help me see the endless possibilities for my network online and to advise me on how I could grow my network beyond the current model.
I would do everything in my power to facilitate the inevitable merge of television and the internet.
I would begin offering full catalogs of my networks past programming online with modern day commercials. The fees for these advertisements could help me to develop better and better content that would also become available online ad infinitum."

2. "I really think the best thing to do is to put the show on Sunday nights. I work downtown Portland Friday nights and without fail the bars, clubs, restaurants, and streets are packed to the gills with every advertiser's dearest demographic. These people are never going to stay home to watch Jericho...or any other show for that matter. Friday night is very iffy for any show. Sunday nights are completely different, it's a ghost town out there. Those people are indoors somewhere where they COULD run across Jericho if the tube is on. X-Files almost got cancelled right away but the network hung in there and it became a juggernaut on Sunday night, maybe another government conspiracy show would take off there, too. One thing's for sure, and I said it from the moment they announced the "renewal", Friday night is NOT going to work. And CBS isn't stupid, they know it better than anyone."

3. "I would make a point of keeping the existing and potential new fans out there informed of changes to the schedule by placing ads on CBS through out the day - maybe even make it humorous like -
"Please don't send nuts, but Jericho will be seen next on Aug 17th with a re-broadcast of a season 1 episode."
Placing the changes on the Jericho message boards are well and fine, however If you don't get on-line you miss the change notice ... that plus the main CBS board needs to be kept up to date along with the main Jericho page."

4. "If I were Nina Tassler I would be worrying about how many shipments of nuts they will be receiving if they don't start getting some more promos going!!!!"

5. "I would try very hard not to ever again rip a show that so many viewers love from them ever again!"

6. "I would shout out loud about JerichoRises.com
I would use RubberPoultry's video to promote during primetime
I would have the "Pool Guys" on every talk show on TV...
I would have a week long Jericho update on my CBS "E" News shows ~ Looks who's back! How they came back! Why CBS cares about the people so much that they just had to listen..."

7."If I were Nina Tassler my top three priorities (judging from the issues that fans have raised) would be to:

~Communicate return dates/pre-emption days, times and plans with the fans and

viewers so that they, in turn, can arrange things with their ‘new’ audiences and not have egg on their faces when the show doesn’t come on as anticipated.

It is a lot of hard work to promote shows, especially to those who are either skeptical to begin with or have lots of entertainment options available. It can be downright embarrassing to talk about all the promotion and the return of Jericho and suddenly the backing appears to have evaporated.

CBS has built a perfect venue for communicating with the existing fans in their own website. It is a most effective tool! Having the cast and crew and fans communicate with one another on the Jericho website is fabulous. Having the people who hold the ‘keys to the kingdom,’ so to speak, communicate regularly with all of us speaks of respect and not dismissal.

~Have next-episode teasers after the credits of the current episode…again, with RETURN DATES

(if necessary). PLEASE! That communicates something important to the fans who might be feeling a bit squeamish about CBS’ commitment... that there will be a next episode and what we can look forward to and promote.

Trust is something that needs to be built and maintained. The fallout from the mid-season hiatus is still fresh in everyone’s minds. Nowadays when one doesn’t hear, one suspects the worst. It is a natural reaction after being dropped in any arena of life.

~ADVERTISE the Jericho DVD’s at the end of each showor at one commercial break per show!

This is particularly important because the new viewers might be somewhat frustrated by the lack of consistency in programming and with the sudden pre-emption ofJericho in certain areas. This will give the new viewers hope that they can get their questions answered especially before the ‘next season’ begins!!
People just don’t have time to work hard at understanding a TV show. Too much work and inconsistency will have viewers giving up and leaving for something that is mindless entertainment. Been there, done that."

8."A "Jericho Ranger" Sweepstakes or contest. You can have say, 5-10 grand prize winners. The grand prize could involve the winners being flown to California and watching the filming of the new season, heck, perhaps give them some backround face time in one of the episodes."

9. "If I were Nina Tassler...
I would not have written to thousands of educated fans promising to rerun Jericho Season 1 and form a business agreement only to fall short on my end of the deal.
I would have had a better plan in place before making a public commitment to such a strong devoted group of world wide individuals."

10. "I would start by giving away DVD copies to Radio Stations...or any book stores...music stores.....like a contest for every so many callers or shoppersfor the full season of Jericho..I would get some of the cast to maybe when DVDs launched in Blockbuster etc...to be there to sign the DVDs.....random stores ,with random cast.I also would maybe start with news type infor in People mag Us....and others about this show and how rare it is to be coming back after cancelled.More interviews with the Music Video Stations...Much Music in Canada , VHI,MTV.I think it would be a nice fit."

11. "I understand the need to pre-empt Jericho for football (contracts and such). What I don't understand is the silence from CBS. Others have stated we could have been told at the end of the last episode (08/3/07), "Due to contracts with the NFL, Jericho will not be aired next Friday". I have another thought for CBS. Why not move Jericho to Saturday for those football conflicts. They could tell us "Due to NFL obligations, Jericho will be seen next Friday. Please be sure to tune in for a special Saturday showing one hour earlier 8pm/7pm central time." That time period is for airing repeats of other CBS shows."

12. "If I was Nina Tassler right now, after what she just went through, I would be in a NUT HOUSE right now."

13. "I say with preseason football coming this week double the advertisements during the games so that football fans will know to turn on Jericho because football games attract many viewers so that would be a very good way to advertise Jericho or CBS should do a comercial somewhat like a movie trailer to give people a taste of the show because adds just giving information on the show don't show to much of what happens in the show that might interest people."

Comic Con Recap and Monster Interview

CCI XTRA: "JERICHO" SAYS THANK YOU TO FANS:
Fantastic recap of Jericho at Comic-Con

A Monster Fan Interview: Skeeterbit
Get to know Jericho Ranger Skeeterbit

"Networks make it easy to catch up on your favorite shows on the Web
Last weekend I spent 23 hours watching the entire "Jericho" series. I watched the episodes on CBS.com, streamed live into my Web browser."

"Is CBS trying to resurrect or destroy Jericho? The finely tuned science fiction series, starring Skeet Ulrich, is back on CBS's schedule but only after viewers mounted a mighty protest. Now Jericho is back for the summer but for only 13 episodes – a sort of "best of" test. At least this time Jericho isn't up against American Idol. But to build a bigger fan base the series needs careful promotion and putting it on Fridays is simply wacky; this is the least watched night of the year. In fact, rumour has Jericho moving into Moonlight's 9 p.m. time slot anyway come fall and very soon: Moonlight's a real stinker and should last for only a few weeks (CBS at 9)."

"Thank You Fans Reel" from Comic-Con
MUST SEE!!

"The Nielsen Company announced today a new development that provides valuable insight into the media habits of specific demographic segments, allowing advertisers to connect more effectively with key target audiences. For instance, advertisers who want to reach a segment known as "Urban Elders," who drive Toyota Corollas, frequent fast-food joints and listen to gospel music, will find them watching daytime soaps, talk shows and the evening news."

CBS Announces Fan Central

CBS Announces:

"Fan Central" page
"We'll highlight new features, upcoming content, and various calls to action so we can make sure JERICHO has a triumphant return in its second season. You'll also find the Jericho Widget here, which you can embed on your various social sites and blogs to spread Jericho virally across the Internet. Keep up the great work!"
I'm curious as to what these "calls to action" might be,

PASS THE PEANUT PLEASE!!!!!!!!

We have the opportunity to make history again...As you know we Rangers are faithful voters in TV_Vote Poll for the best shows of all time..

* We average about 507 votes each day.
* We currently need 1,151 votes to make make the number 1 place in the Daily Top 40 poll.
* We will need 4,139 votes (as of today) to make it into the Top 40 shows of all time!
* Looking at our average totals we should hold the #1 Daily Top 40 poll by this weekend, and Jericho could hold a one of the spots in the top 40 best shows of all time in less than 2 weeks.

If we start a Pass the Peanut Marathon it might not only help with the numbers, but also add a bit of fun to the whole voting process!

Here's a great idea:

BlogStraightTalk

Blog StraightTalk On Bumpzee
Next Mon. (Aug. 6)
"BlogStraightTalk is a weekly discussion on the best and worst of blogging content practices, presented in a contrarian format (eg. Ebert & Roper or Kornheiser & Wilbon).

We'll alternate the discussion between best/worst concepts and blogs (or social media) reviews. The basic concept is to open up a discussion among experienced bloggers while allowing those who are newer to social media to gain insights into content development.

Anyone can join as a member of the community and participate in the discussion. Members who have established blogs (with at least 10 posts that positively contribute to the development of social media) may be added to the blog roll."
They let me join so come on. Let's have a full house.

Jericho and The Universe

http://www.myspace.com/jerichomonster
Please join me if you're on MySpace.

Yesterday, Rich at Copywrite Ink "launched an unofficial Expanded Universe Short Story Competition fan fiction contest to promote Jericho for the fans, expand its universe (outside of the town where it largely takes place on television), and demonstrate the possibilities of its rich story line."

In today's blog, " Writing Fan Fiction: Richard Becker", Rich writes his own story. It can't be submitted to the contest and that's a good thing. Why? Because it is a great story. You did well, Rich.

Jericho Coalition Fan Club Development

This is an invitation to all members of all the Jericho forums to participate in the building of a "fan club" as you, the fans, want.

The general concept behind all this is: everyone has a say.

To summarize:

1. Each forum has selected 5-10 members to represent the forum's membership.

Those forums are:

* CBS
* Jericho Rally Point (JRP)
* Radio Free Jericho (RFJ)
* Nuts For Jericho (NFJ)
* Internet Movie Database (IMDB)

2. At each forum, all questions regarding a fan club will be posted and comments from the members will be collected by the reps of that forum and taken to the Jericho Coalition board.
The Coalition is not the Fan Club. Only the reps will be registered but anyone may view the discussions going on at any time.

3. Jericho Coalition is a site set up for the reps to meet, post the questions and feedback from the fans and then discuss each question in detail. This will allow the input from all the fans to be heard through their representatives via their message boards. Obviously, if you are a member of more than one board – you have multiple opportunities to make your opinions known.

4. After everyone’s input, and discussion, the reps will vote and the final tally will be reported. Eventually a board of directors and officers will be selected from the representatives by either the representatives or by the individual board memberships.

5. This process is repeated until all questions from you, the fans, are answered satisfactorily and decided on, a Board of Directors elected and fan club finalized.

The entire purpose of this is to have you, the fans, be a part of a great thing. We all worked together to bring Jericho back, and we can all work together to build a fan club, for and by everyone.

The links to all the forums are as follows:

CBS
JRP
RFJ
NFJ

IMDB

Right now we are looking for initial questions as to how fans would like to see the Fan Club structured. The idea is to get all the questions out there and answered as best as possible so the brainstorming fun can start right away.

Going in we want everyone at peace with any lingering intitial questions or confusions so we can start rolling out the great ideas from everyone here as soon as possible.

To many of us this is new, but we are all fans and this is a wonderful opportunity to have our voices heard in the Development of a Fan Club, being developed for us, and by us for a show we all truly have a passion for.

Take some time over the weekend and google some fan club sites, surf around and take in of some things that you might like to see in this club. (no, I am not suggesting copyright infringement). Just see what these clubs offer their fans/members that pop up to you as being different, inviting, or even just "hey that's interesting". Think how any of these things might work in a fan made Jericho Fan Club. See something great, save the link, we'll all want to take a look and enjoy the idea with you.

Dues, Merchandise and Promotion are the main topic threads we'll be starting in order to solicit ideas from all over this board and we truly hope everyone loads us up with whatever they choose to throw out there.

Do you want to pay dues? Have both free and paying memberships? Would you want Jericho merchandise available for sale? How do you think the club should be promoted?

Let us know all your ideas and suggestions. They're all important.
