Jericho Message Board

Rich of Copywrite Ink has another timely posting today. If you're a Jericho fan you'll be glad you read it. It says, in part:

"On several occasions, I’ve read active fans on the Jericho CBS forum discuss how centralizing efforts on the network’s site might make sense. But yet, that doesn’t make any sense at all. Why?
Because not all Jericho viewers are created equal, but they all have equal value.
The truth is that many viewers, non-viewers, and even fans will never visit the CBS Jericho site. On the contrary, if they are to be nurtured, they have to be nurtured off the network site by dedicated people who manage bulletin boards, forums, and blogs, with each location gaining 50, 500, or even 5,000 new viewers to become interested in the show. Each one of them also serves as an important promotional outlet for CBS, promoting announcements like the upcoming chat with Dan Shotz next week."

Speaking of the CBS board Openminded of RFJ found this:

"Here are the 4 things Prospero moderation is supposed to do
- Maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all community members.
- Seeding new discussions and pruning existing ones to ensure robust interactions.
- Helping new users get comfortable and answering questions from the entire community.
- Performing regular sweeps of community content to remove offensive messages as well as members who are intentionally/habitually disruptive or abusive.
- Compiling a weekly (qualitative and quantitative) report that summarizes ongoing conversations and interactions of the communities and analyzes trends."

I sure haven't seen any of this on the board.

Now it all makes sense! The true reason for all of the mysterious bans... This was Prospero's way of ensuring 'robust interaction'!

Actually none of this has taken place on the CBS boards. When you need help with harrassment or threatening posters...where do you turn? The Admins...How??? They have disabled their email addys!!! When you go directly to the source, you get no response at all from the Prospero empoyee's reguarding problems or concerns.

Thank goodness we have built a strong enough community that we can handle the spammers together as a team. I'm proud of our Jericho community on the CBS boards.

hi
Now, I think we see a problem here. I am not sure that when prospero took on this web forum that they had a true idea of the sheer size we would be creating in posts , those of us how moderate a forum know that this is almost a full time job, can you imagine what doing it for CBS would be like???? Nuts !
I think we are being expected to mod ourselves here, we asked CBS to keep the boards, if we are going to push for this moderation, we may not like what we get. Maybe someone getting the rights to 'help' prospero out might work. I just fear that making demands of this type might end up putting the whole thing on the back burner.
Maybe we can do our part, go in, search our names, see if any of our posts are extraneous , find any posts that say 'bump' or what have you. That would help cut down on size, and might actually help with the searches fans are trying to do.
just a few ideas anyway :-)
