Digg, CBS, and WGA

"When it comes to technology, Sumner Redstone says he’s not an early adopter, but rather a “non-adopter”, joking about the fact that he doesn’t blog or Twitter. Still, during his keynote address to the Media and Money Conference, he made sure to get across that he’s hip to big digital trends and that CBS (NYSE: CBS) and Viacom (NYSE: VIA) are well positioned to take advantage of industry changes."

"As you obviously know, the Writers Strike started this week. And it looks like it’s going to be a long, hard slog that may not be resolved for months — maybe not even until the Actors and Directors contracts are up next June. That’s a long time, and while there are any number of articles discussing the anticipated consequences of the strike, what about the unanticipated consequences?

By definition, of course, those are impossible to predict. Which is why I’m going to predict them. So, without any further ado, here are six unanticipated consequences of the writers strike."

"The LA Times put together this list of what shows are effected how by the strike as of November 9th. Granted this could change by tomorrow and not all the shows that are effected are listed, but it is a start to understand how bad this is turning out to be and it is only day 4.

Hopefully the WGA strike will end soon and things will go back to normal soon, but it is not looking that is going to be the case and we might be going through all of this again in July when the SAG and DGA contracts are up."

Thanks for this list of the shows being affected by the writer's strike. I can't believe they aren't going to try to settle this quickly. This must be costing a lot of money, and with TV viewership already slipping away, this is going to just speed the process I think.
