Nutty Nielsens
More on Nutty Nielsen ratings.
"Nielsen recently announced time frames for two major data initiatives, including a new "enhanced weighting" procedure that has the potential of generating differences in ratings estimates effective with the next television season. Nielsen said it will revise the algorithms it uses to weight national ratings beginning in September 2008, and that the revision would likely have an effect on both program and average commercial minute audience estimates."
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
"Nielsen's calculation systems are so complex, especially since they've weighted people in the database so that a person is not a simple person. A person is 1.1 on one day and 1.5 on another day," Brooks explains, adding, "Therefore, when they do multiple calculations they run the risk that people who were heavily weighted in the 'live' sample, may not be in the playback sample."

Jericho: The Return
"This week’s second-season premiere of “Jericho” will now repeat on CBS Saturday (Feb. 16) at 8 p.m. -- perhaps a tiny test of whether the series now airing Tuesdays at 10 should return to an earlier time slot. I can’t be the only critic getting emails from parents outraged that their kids’ once-favorite show has returned at a weeknight hour too late for them to stay up for.
The episode is also streaming online at CBS’ extensive “Jericho” site, either with or without commentary."
"Whether Jericho fizzles back out due to incredulous audiences refusal to give the new plot a try, or if the series pulls off what seems to be the impossible and builds an audience sizable enough to warrant a full season renewal, it certainly can be said that the Jericho crew took CBS’s cancellation and subsequent revival as a mandate to deliver something worthy of a second chance. Jericho 2.0 is definitely worth a second glance."
"Al Norton: Fact. I have written it before and will do so again here - the return of Jericho is the greatest accomplishment of the TV Viewer in my lifetime. Bringing a show back from the dead simply doesn't happen, so all who sent nuts to CBS deserve high praise. What makes it even better is that these episodes are the same high quality as where the series left off last spring. I have seen the first four of the year and can tell you they have not lost one iota of their trademark intensity, while at the same time boosting the heart of the show with more of the Stanley-Mimi relationship; how Alicia Coppola continues to fly under the radar screen is beyond me. Esai Morales is a fine addition to the cast, and while I know there are some Skeet haters out there, he is a very good fit as Jake. On some level whether or not the show does well is beside the point, that the triumph is simply in the resurrection, but I do hope Jericho meets with some success as it will encourage other networks to consider second chances in the future."

Jericho: Digg Then and Now
Many thanks to Terocious for posting the following on the CBS board. I agree wholeheartedly!!
How pathetic that we all say we love Jericho and the outstanding cast and crew yet April gets 22 Diggs and Lennie gets 30. This is embarrassing! It looks like there aren't enough fans to come up with more Diggs than this.
Yes, Terocious, we want CBS to send these folks to talk shows but we can't even get some decent Diggs. I can imagine CBS laughing.
Look at the difference in these Dugg articles:
Resurrection: The fans save Jericho (1000 diggs)+ 94 comments
Save Jericho Nuts! Campaign Almost To 10000 lbs. of Nuts To CBS (2156 Diggs)+312 comments
Will CBS Find Closure For Jericho ? (1265 Diggs)+ 101 comments
This is part of what made CBS sit up and take notice of us. Does anybody care anymore? Are we so busy talking about promoting that we've forgotten how important Digg is to the very promotion we want and need?
If we want bloggers and media to notice us again and talk about Jericho then the front page of Digg is where we need to be.
"April Parker-Jones in her first ever interview about her role as Darcy Hawkins on Jericho has only garnered 22 Diggs.
Lennie James exclusive interview received 30 Diggs.
We want CBS to send these people out to talk shows but this is the best we as a collective can muster to support them and earn them exposure.
Rubber Poultry = 69 Diggs
Schumi = 48
Shaun O Mac = 42
Jeff Braverman = 27?
These people are heroes of the NUTS campaign and we still couldn't break 100.
221 Diggs could get any story we wanted on to the Digg.com homepage in front of thousands of people who are looking for a good cause to further."
How badly do we want Jericho back for a 3rd season?

CBS: Breaking News
CBS? We think you need to explain this.
"This is what Kimberly who works for CBS Sportsline customer service who I was transfered to by the main swtichboard.
Meaning the information telling us to go to Sportsline with our issues is erroneous.
The user name robert_green is a generic username shared by about 100 people who moderate the message boards.
Now, keep in mind that Jennifer from CBS Sportsline (main switchboard) told me on Friday that they were getting the moderators together and we would get some communication on the boards. Meaning the information telling us to go to Sportsline with our issues is erroneous.
The user name robert_green is a generic username shared by about 100 people who moderate the message boards.
So CBS Admin2 does not work for CBS yet CBS Admin2 has been posting announcements and questions for producers, etc. etc. etc.
THIS MAKES NO SENSE
We need some clear concise answers and information from CBS.
In other words- somebody's got some explainin' to do."
"OK so who is CBS admin 2 who issued the press releases etc then. This is so confusing. "
" Why can't someone on this so called "moderation team" respond in some form or fashion to show the users of this board that action is really being taken?"
"So if CBS Admin2 does not work for CBS and CBS Admin 2 is the one who posts all the announcements and questions for the producers, etc. etc. etc. what does this mean????
It means that somebody has some explainin' to do.
What is going on CBS????????"
"Who did Kimberly work for Sportsline or CBS? I feel like we are treated like dogs and told to chase our tails by CBS."
"Just went to look at the post that sent us to sportsline and it was signed the Jericho Web Team. You would think if someone was signing on and asserting that they were someone from CBS that those posts would be removed by the real moderators. This makes no sense at all. "

Jericho: Passionate Champions
From Amber of Watching Jericho:
The Nuts Campaign showed me that if you give something to people that they are truly passionate about, they will react and make sure that they are being heard if you take it away. I’ve been a part of other “Save Our Show” campaigns in the past, to the point that I used to think that if I liked a show, it was a guarantee to be cancelled, but there’s really not been anything quite like the Nuts Campaign before. It really showed me that it was a good thing to believe in people and what they can do, given a chance.
The greatest lesson for me, that my efforts, no matter how small they seemed to me, were as important as anyone else's, when added to the whole. Lots of small rocks can make a big mountain!

"CBS’s ‘Jericho’ Could Return Next Month—Or Next Year"
Great article. You'll love it.
Interview with Sprague Grayden
I found this quite interesting:
"In our own time, the internet has served as an extraordinary platform accelerating communications and facilitating the formation of interest group circles with astonishing power to challenge status quo spider organizations. Apart from the many examples highlighted by Brafman and Beckstrom, consider this summer’s grassroots “Nuts” campaign that persuaded CBS to reverse its decision to cancel the 2006-7 show “Jericho” after one, cliff-hung season. Today more than ever before, an appealing idea with a passionate champion has the ability to move mountains."

Jericho: Changed By the Nuts
How did the Nuts campaign change you? Part II
1. Terocious:
When I stop to consider that only 5 months have passed since the initiation of Save Jericho I am absolutely blown away by how much our metaphors of war mirror war itself. There have been some needless and necessary casualties and some victories that were nothing short of miracles. There have been long days in foxholes passing the time playing cards and moments when you would give anything to know the whereabouts of your best friend.
The language of war has been a part of all of this from the beginning. We have received mission orders and gone to Boot camp. This continues to be true as I write. I am amazed at how familiar and even comforting it has all become to me.
My twenties were spent as part of a 10 person independent theatre company. I learned, as part of that company that group dynamics has a life of it's own. That experience helped me to prepare for group dynamics on a major scale within the Jericho movement. I have been fascinated to watch as moods swept thru the group like the folks who hold up signs in a stadium. I think, for some writer, there is an incredible book in all of this.
I have said before that Jericho Fans are my Hero. This is not because they always do the right thing but because they always do something. They try and if something does not go right then you can count on them to try something else.
I find this inspiring.
2. ADker:
I have tried to be a good follower, a good Ranger. I have so little experience on message boards, in a fan community and on the internet that the only way I could possibly contribute was as a good follower. A fundamental part of my personality is that I buck authority and this has been challenging for me.
The whole experience of posting, exploring the internet, digging, reading blogs, not to mention blog talk radio, has been a virtual education.
Any change in me has been for the better. Overall, I have nothing negative to say about the campaign or this entire experience.
3. Mswldflwr:
The Save Jericho campaign helped see me through a very difficult time in my life more than changed me. On March 21st, 2007 I received a call that my father had passed away. It was very unexpected and he was only 69 years old. I live 600 miles from my family. They are in Michigan and I am in Pennsylvania.. So I went "home" and went through the motions that one must go through when they lose a loved one. I was only able to stay with my family for a week, but had to get back to work. Well, I don't have a husband or children, so I had nothing to put any energy into and the sadness just seemed to invade every aspect of my life I just couldn't seem to find the energy or the desire to get on with things. And worrying week after week how well my mother was going to be able to figure out how to live without my father and only being able to be with her over the telephone.
Then along came the Save Jericho campaign. I finally had something to do that gave me something to think about other than just work and sadness. It seemed a little odd at first finding joy at watching the nut count go up every day. Something so simple, but at least it was something. And listening to how grateful the actors were on Shaun's show. Day by day I found myself not feeling the cloud quite so heavy over my head because of the simple baby step joys.
And then Memorial Day came and it was the traditional weekend that my parents would usually come to visit. Only this year, they wouldn't be coming. But at least I knew how important it was to keep the boards busy that weekend and that's what I did. Again, something so simple, but something I could do and now allow myself to wallow quite so much.
By the time June 6th came and the announcement was made, it was the first time in months that I had something to be completely JOYFUL about without feeling guilty about being happy. So thank you, CBS. I will always miss my father, but the mourning period became a little bit easier.
4. Eskiepup:
In regards to Jericho & the Nuts campaign and how it changed me, I agree with what my fellow Rangers have already stated so well.
I'd like to add the following observations:
- I note that some folks have stated that, up to now, they had been passive about things in their life that had not gone well for them. I've been the opposite: I've been the warhorse that would go to battle over a perceived wrong, poor treatment by a business, etc, but over the years, I've acquired "battle fatigue". ;-) As a result, I've had to carefully choose my battles, 'cause I realized that ya can't win them all. What a great surprise it was to find that so many of you thought that Jericho was worth the fight, and we joined together to bring it back. You all have rekindled my spirits!
- I dunno about the rest of you, but I'm pretty tired of dealing with unresponsive people, corporations (and governments!). No one likes to talk to a wall, or to be ignored. To think that as a culmulative result of Jericho fans pulling together, we actually persuaded CBS to sit up, take notice, and give Jericho (a TV show that WE want!) a second shot is a real triumph, a win for us all. To paraphrase what some of you have already said, it's amazing what we can do as a group. For fans to bring back a cancelled show is a pretty rare situation; let's be proud of our accomplishment!
- Speaking of shows... I found it fascinating that I was able to "catch up" on the first 10 episodes of Jericho by watching it online. The ability to watch these shows online, the Jericho website blogs, chats, wikis, along with the NUTS campaign itself - maybe I'm wrong or sadly uninformed, but all of these resources together is semi-state-of-the-art, groundbreaking stuff for networks and TV shows (it must have been if the Jericho website was considered for an Emmy). Could you imagine how successful we would have been if NONE of this had been available on the CBS website to initially pull us together? The times are changing for entertainment media, and all of this together with our demand for Jericho's return will affect and shape the future of TV. And to think we're part of making this happen!
- Last, but not least..... during this campaign, I've had numerous opportunities to post/email/chat with fellow Rangers, and in the process, I got to "know" them and become friends. This has not been the greatest year for me & my family from a health & employment perspective, but as I've talked with others, I found that many others have gone through some challenges, too. This is life, and as a group and "family" of Rangers, we pull through together.
5.selini44:
Up to even last year, I would have never thought of joining in a campaign like this one. I decided to jump on the bandwagon and get involved to save Jericho because it is a great show; I was so sick of all the garbage that is on network TV. At first, it was kind of a fun thing to be doing: sending nuts, writing, emailing, etc. But it has evolved into so much more than that. It made me realize that if a lot of people band together to stand up and fight for something they believe in, they really do have a chance to achieve their goal, even against a giant corporation like CBS.
I also became more aware and involved in the internet community. I finally got out of the stone age, computer-wise, and got a new PC and broadband internet (I had dial-up before), all because of the campaign. I've learned about digging, message boards and all kinds of things online that I never knew about before or hadn't taken part in. I've even become involved in getting a fan club up and running, something I probably never would have done if it weren't for the Jericho campaign.
On the downside for me, I didn't realize how hard it would be to recruit people to watch the show once it had been saved and the re-runs were to air. I was afraid of talking it up so much that it would turn people off. I still keep talking about the show and urging people to watch it, but even now I hope I'm not pushing it too far. It's been difficult to gauge when enough is enough.
My overall experience with the campaign has definitely been positive. Even though I don't have as much of a chance to post and get to know more of the Rangers better, I still feel like I am part of the family. And that alone has been
More to come.

How Did The Nuts Campaign Change You?
A while back I asked this question on the CBS message board:
We all helped save Jericho by changing CBS' mind and we got Jericho back.
How did the Nuts campaign change you?
Better or worse?
More tomorrow.
Kricka:
This campaign gave me faith that the little people can make a ruckus big enough to at least bend the behemoth that tends to make decisions for us. And while there was ample evidence of this through history, I don't think I had experienced it personally. While, as some say, it's just a TV show, and not finding the key to world peace, it gave me the faith in people I think I desperately needed. It has given me the resolve to keep on keeping on with the other projects in my life that I hold dear. I never thought in my wildest dreams that a television show would ever do that for me.
Openminded1:
One big way the nuts campaign was a change for me is that it was based online. I had never been involved in anything so multi-faceted that was done primarily via the internet. It was amazing to watch and even more amazing to be a part of. People starting finding niches at an unbelievable rate of speed and filling them. It was all so vastly different from anything I have ever seen. This campaign has the potential to inspire many positive changes in society, and is something I am glad my young daughter got to see firsthand. I think this gave me a new perspective on the things that will be possible in the not so distant future.
I thought I was fairly good at thinking outside the box before all this. I have realized that when it comes to undertaking any sort of initiative on the internet, one has to learn to think not only outside the box, but be able to take a 2D box and make it a 3D box.
azlady4:
It made me more aggressive and less passive. I learned that if you feel something is not right then speak up and do something about it. I believe in Jericho. I feel it is more than a TV show, it is a lession in humanity among other things and I felt it was worth fighting for. Before this, I never would have got involved in something like this, but I am glad I did because it got results.
mpbnice:
I learned that sometimes if enough little guys band together they CAN win, even against a huge entity like CBS. I heard over and over that we wouldn't, couldn't get our show back - it was gone, get over it. Guess what, everybody who said that was wrong! Next time something like that happens I won't be so quick to just accept it. I found out that I can call and email total strangers if I have to.
gl9east:
i learned to never give up. and also that nothing is impossible. i learned that i am not the only one who is so passionate about this show.
swenciler:
This campaign has made me very much more internet savvy.
now express my thoughts quicker and when people ask me about my bumper sticker NUTS4JERICHO- I am not afraid to tell them the whole and complete story of the show and the nuts campaign. I just wish I could go to the convention and meet some of the Rangers in person!!
I now believe you can really change anything if you try hard enough!!
bbsitr:
I learned that I am not alone in regards to my feelings about JERICHO. I have grown and have been more willing to fight for what I love. I have learned to actively participate in a campaign to get something done. I believe that I can take on anything I feel is important to me (or to my country). Thank you JERICHO!
Savannahgirl:
It helped me learn to speak my mind a bit more. I'm the kind of person that liked to blend in and not be noticed. I didn't like to "rock the boat" so to speak. This campaign taught me if I want something, I can't be afraid of sticking out or looking NUTS by everyone else. You never get what you want in this life by sitting back and waiting for it to come to you. You have to fight for it!
foxgray1:
I am usually a very timid person who would never try to change anything. However, back in May, when CBS first cancelled Jericho, I actually got sick to my stomach. I believe Jericho is the best show that I have ever seen, and I am a senior citizen, so that is saying something. Over the past 4 months, I have called CBS, emailed them, voted, read and posted on these boards, and I help track the sponsors. It is almost like my love for Jericho has actually changed my personality for the better, and made me more outgoing.

Jericho: Why We Fight Flashback
Remember the Nuts:
"After bringing the first season of Jericho to a nail-biting cliffhanger ending, CBS followed up by canceling the fledgling show. A little cruel, perhaps, but them's the breaks in show biz. Jericho wasn't performing ratingswise, and the long mid-season break drove viewers away. "
"So it may be no surprise that a new ratings system offered by Nielsen Media Research could fuel the fire for a return of "Jericho," which showed that the now-canceled series from CBS had more viewers watching the actual commercials, even when they were playing it back on their DVRs."
CBS Renews Jericho
"It's official: CBS has renewed the post-apocalyptic drama Jericho for another seven episodes, to air sometime mid-season. Nina Tassler, president, CBS Entertainment, made the announcement on the official Jericho message board on June 6.
"Wow!" Tassler wrote. "Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime-time television series. You got our attention; your e-mails and collective voice have been heard. As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of Jericho for mid-season next year."
"Jericho' survives its apocalypse"
"For "Jericho," the pickup came after weeks of a relentless "Save 'Jericho' " fan campaign garnered with nuts -- tons of them -- sent to CBS executives in protest over the show's cancellation last month.
CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler broke the news of the sci-fi drama's return in a letter posted Wednesday in the fan section of the show's official Web site.
"You got our attention; your e-mails and collective voice have been heard," she wrote to the fans."
"As much credit as I have given to deserving Jericho fans for convincing CBS to reinstate their program, I'm equally inclined to write how they could unintentionally be responsible for destroying any chance for a season three. Right now it seems, the only shadows being cast by their cause are shadows of doubt."
"What this means for CBS is simple. Even if the fans do not overrun the ratings at the start of Jericho’s second season (I think they will because few shows have this much buzz), CBS will be unable to say the fans didn’t do their part. That will be an odd position for the network because social media can be a double edged sword. The more organized fan efforts are today and the more vested they become, the more likely 20 tons of nuts may be an appetizer."
"The Hollywood Reporter has taken to calling it “the Jericho’ effect.” They say “TV bloggers came into their own as a force to be reckoned with this summer when their campaign to save CBS' canceled post apocalyptic drama* ‘Jericho’ became a triumphant success.” (*post-apocalyptic drama is not an appropriate description, but we know what might be.)"

Blogging Jericho
" Marketing By Consumers: Jericho Bloggers"
Another great article from Rich.
"Learning the sometimes complex behavioral rules online isn’t the only challenge. While fans are partly responsible for the buzz they generate, they often operate without any support network whatsoever. They have no little or no access to CBS or the producers of the show and sometimes feel like they have to fight for content ideas and information that will eventually benefit the network."
The Voice of Jericho Question of the Week.
To inaugurate this endeavor and aid in celebrating the big weekend, we have a two part Question-
What were the first words to cross your mind after seeing the Pilot Episode of Jericho the first time? What were the first words to cross your mind after seeing the season finale “Why We Fight” the first time?
You may answer them there or you can e-mail your responses to our feedback address at VoJFeedback@gmail.com We’ll read the responses on the following show and give you a new question to ponder.

Jericho Message Board
Rich of Copywrite Ink has another timely posting today. If you're a Jericho fan you'll be glad you read it. It says, in part:
"On several occasions, I’ve read active fans on the Jericho CBS forum discuss how centralizing efforts on the network’s site might make sense. But yet, that doesn’t make any sense at all. Why?
Because not all Jericho viewers are created equal, but they all have equal value.
The truth is that many viewers, non-viewers, and even fans will never visit the CBS Jericho site. On the contrary, if they are to be nurtured, they have to be nurtured off the network site by dedicated people who manage bulletin boards, forums, and blogs, with each location gaining 50, 500, or even 5,000 new viewers to become interested in the show. Each one of them also serves as an important promotional outlet for CBS, promoting announcements like the upcoming chat with Dan Shotz next week."
Speaking of the CBS board Openminded of RFJ found this:
"Here are the 4 things Prospero moderation is supposed to do
- Maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all community members.
- Seeding new discussions and pruning existing ones to ensure robust interactions.
- Helping new users get comfortable and answering questions from the entire community.
- Performing regular sweeps of community content to remove offensive messages as well as members who are intentionally/habitually disruptive or abusive.
- Compiling a weekly (qualitative and quantitative) report that summarizes ongoing conversations and interactions of the communities and analyzes trends."
I sure haven't seen any of this on the board.

Flawed Nielsen Assumptions
Rich at Copywrite Ink always uses Saturdays to write an article about Jericho. This past Saturday was no exception. The article's title is: "Paint By Numbers: Network Ratings." You can read the entire article here.
What I found to be of particular interest were the comments left on the article.
First, there's PlatPat from the CBS board who says, "The entire systems is flawed in too many ways to "count"!!
First, there's the problem with the location placement of the puny number of boxes;
Then, the puny number of boxes;
Then, the demographic factor of throwing out the boomer generation;
Then, the fact that it is "assumed" that if the TV is tuned into a show in a Neilsen household that ANYONE is actually watching the TV;
Then, it is "assumed" that if that household has 5 members, that those 5 members are all watching;
Then, it is "assumed" that if 3 of those 5 members are within the proper demographic, that all 3 of them are watching.
Then, those same factors are "assumed" for any DVR or TiVo timeshifting numbers;
Then, there's the problem that advertisers are convinced they want to use these numbers when paying for advertising.
How many ways can something be broken before it gets fixed?"
Rich replied, "I think you nailed most of the flaws; great run down. It only gets worse from there.
These numbers are then used to justify critical reviews, build and kill careers, sell advertising, position networks, etc. Is it any wonder we watch programming and wonder why certain advertisements completely miss us as consumers?
Sadly, it is not so much as how broken does it have to get, but what can we replace it with. That seems to be what most people are trying to work on now, but unfortunately, they are also pretending these numbers mean something in the meantime.
Four to five years is a tremendous amount of time for Nielsen to make good on its "everybody counts" concept. Entire companies are founded, shine, and burn out or bought out in less time."
Why is this important? Because this is the system we're stuck with and the one CBS uses. I want to make sure, if they try to cancel Jericho again, that we have plenty of ammunition with which to fight back. I'm adding this exchange to my arsenal. You should too.

Boom For Jericho?
"Big boom for Turteltaub: CBS Par deal"
Good for Jericho?
Nuciferous: "Shaun Daily of Blogtalkradio, covers some of the action on the first day of shooting season two of JERICHO. Shaun speaks with some of the cast and gets some more teasers for all of JERICHO nuts."
I am still finding misinformation which troubles me greatly. I found this posting, " All of us have to make an effort to watch the show live, not use our DVR's to timeshift the show to a more convenient time."
I will get on my soapbox again and say that you can watch Jericho any way you choose because, unless you are a Nielsen family, you do not count. Let's try to spread the word on this. Thanks.

If You Were Nina Tassler: Part II
I posed this question to the CBS message board yesterday:
"Pretend that you are Nina Tassler for a moment.
What would you be doing to promote Jericho?"
I continue to get responses so there will be more tomorrow. Everyone will be heard. Now if we could just get CBS to pay attention. If you have ideas please leave a comment. We will be heard.
1. "Stop messing with the Friday nite schedules!" *** Don't mess with Jericho either!"
2. "Definitely more Promos and commercials. It was encouraging early on when it actually looked like CBS was going to follow through on their promise to do their part. But now I see NOTHING that leads me to believe they are going to do what they said they would do...How can we keep asking new viewers to invest time and commit to a show that they have already cancelled once, when they can see nothing of CBS's effort to make it work a second time? *** True.***
My friends are reluctant to take a chance at being "gut shot and left for dead" like I was when CBS cancelled Jericho the first time."
3. "Exterminate football!"*** CBS would get Nuts from everywhere for this.***
4. "I would advertise in movie theatres during the trailers. I went and saw Bourne Ultimatum last night and most people were there 20-30 minutes early and sat in the theater watching the commercials before the movie - talk about a captive audience! : ) There were several ads for televisions shows that were more like long trailers for movies. If you do that during a hit movie, you will certainly reach a large number of people and it can't be more expensive than television time."
5. "On Friday nights through the summer - I would have put up "double header" episodes (two each night back to back) of Jericho to get through the entire season and not leap forward.
I would work out a deal with Oprah to get Lennie James on her show.
I would have released the DVD for season one in Sept., not Oct 2.
I would try to see if Jericho fans are like Trekies to the point other projects off the theme of Jericho is possible, even if it's not in prime time. Clearly the future is more and more channels, and I presume we will see in essence some CBS2, CBS3 type stuff, similar to ESPN which is the running joke for that. Look at Star Trek - New Generation, Deep Space 9, Voyager, Enterprise, and how many movies? Besides New Bern, might be interesting to play off what life is like in other areas with spin offs. Prime time? Maybe not, or not at first, but there's a fan base for this.
I would sieze the moment to reach out and understand this Jericho fan movement even more and explore the alternative venues used by Jericho fans, such as blog radio, and consider the revenue potential of that, esp. in combination of the internet broadcasting technologies CBS has acquired. Why not seek to be cutting edge and "try out" more and more new ideas with these Jericho fans.
I would have a liason set up to hear and review the highlights of what's going on with Jericho fans through the forums, and of course, the Coalition. I would reach out even more to Shaun O'Mac and see if that isn't something where some advertising revenue could be generated, esp. if given a little promotion."
6. "If I were in charge at CBS, I would definitely not monkey around with the schedule. If I'm telling the fanbase of Jericho to go out and promote the re-runs, then I would absolutely be more consistent about when those re-runs were on. (How can you keep viewers, especially for summer re-runs, if you pre-empt the show?) Of course, I also would have shown all of the Jericho re-runs, not used the re-cap show to take the place of a block of ten or so episodes." *** You rock.***
7. "We are promoting Jericho and getting new viewers, and CBS is letting us down with pre-emptions and lack of promotion for this GREAT show. Get consistant with the re-runs, and if you must pre-empt, at least give the viewers a heads-up on that and show some previews of the next episode. PLEASE have a Jericho Marathon and promote, promote PROMOTE it. The only reason I can think of that anyone would not get completely hooked on the show is because they don't know about it, because it is not being properly promoted on the network. You have a potential goldmine here with viewer suppport..... you have made history with the 'Save Jericho' campaign that came about on this website....The website is nominated for an emmy.... use these things to your advantage, CBS and make promoting this show a priority instead of teasing us along with a few episodes now and then. I don't think WE will let you down."
8. "PLEASE Nina, don't break our hearts again."
*** I second that emotion."
To be continued tomorrow, Nina. Free help urges you to promote more.***

"Meanwhile, CBS television is still among the ratings leaders because of stalwarts "Survivor" and the "CSI" franchise, but the network's ratings have declined in recent months. The unit had a misstep earlier in the quarter, when fans angrily reacted to its decision to pull the series "Jericho," prompting the company to reinstate the show."
